Jimmy Walker

Jimmy Walkeris a former professional footballer with over 600 appearances across the football league and a UEFA A qualified Goalkeeping Coach. He is currently goalkeeping coach at League 2 side Lincoln City.

Walker started his career with Notts County July 1991, before moving onto Walsall in August 1993 where he made 475 appearances in all competitions for the club in the eleven years that he was there which was the most time spent by any goalkeeper for the club. During his time at Walsall he won three promotions with the club in the years 1995, 1999 and again in 2001. He was also awarded Player of the Season twice. He was then chosen to be in the PFA Second Division Team of the Year in 2001.

In the summer of 2004 he moved onto West Ham, where he gained a regular first team place within a year of joining. Walker saved a penalty taken by Frank Lampard in the League Cup in October 2004, in front of the West Ham supporters’ at Stamford Bridge which won him allot of praise with the fans. in 2005 he was playing in goal for West Ham In the play-off final that saw them win Promotion to the Premier League. He made his Premiership debut with the club at the age of 32. Walker was also apart of the squad that became FA Cup Final runners up in May 2006. He also got a Europa League Finish during his time at the club.  In November 2008, Walker signed on loan for Colchester United from West Ham making his debut for Colchester on 29 November 2008 and playing a total of 16 times for the club before returning to West Ham. After leaving West Ham he went onto sign for Tottenham in September 2009 where they won Champions League Qualification during his spell with them.

In October 2010, Walker re-signed for Walsall, making his 500th appearance for the club On the 12th April 2011 before going onto break the clubs previous appearance record, making 530 appearances for the club on 14th January 2012. In July 2012 he took up a player – coach role with the blub before leaving in February 2013. All in all, he made 533 appearances for the club during two separate spells over the past two decades,

In 2013, he took on the role of first team goalkeeper coach at Peterborough United where he stayed until February 2015. During his time at the Club he helped guide them into the Play-Off semi-finals in 2014 and also won The Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final in 2014. After leaving Peterborough he became first team Goalkeeping Coach for Gillingham at the start of the 2015/16 season where he stayed until March 2016. Later that year he joined Lincoln City as the First Team Goalkeeping coach where he helped guide the club to Promotion back into the Football League during his first season 2016/17. In 2017/18 he had further success achieving a play off finish & winning the Checkatrade Trophy. In the summer 2018, Jimmy was appointed First Team Goalkeeping Coach at Sunderland AFC.
