Manchester City took on Stoke City on the 14th October 2017 in the English Premier League.

City lined up in a fluid 4-3-3 formation. This performance was one of City’s best of the season where they demolished Stoke City 7-2.

Guardiola’s Manchester City have blown the rest of the Premier League away this season with their exciting brand of football and free scoring qualities.

Ederson was in between the sticks who is so comfortable in possession playing like an outfield player. The two centre back’s Otamendi & Stones are very capable of stepping out with the ball and being confident to play forward passes that break the lines.

Full Backs Walker & Delph both are very forward thinking and want to get into the final third. In this fixture it was more Walker was more influential in the final third with Sterling playing infield to allow the overlapping run. Sane prefers to stay wider and play like a traditional winger, getting the ball at feet and attacking the Right Back with pace & skill.

The central 3 midfielders consisted of Fernandinho sitting in front of the two centre half’s providing a screen for Stoke’s direct play and acted as a pivot and gave a solid base for the defensive organisation. Silva & De Bruyne playing ahead looking to get in behind the Stoke midfield unit to receive passes from Fernandinho & the two centre back’s. Silva looked to run forward into the box and beyond Jesus when he came into the No.10 position.

Jesus played as the No.9 but looked to come short and give the Stoke centre backs a decision to make. Do they go in against Jesus and leave space in behind for the runs of the midfield players or do they stay in their slot and allow Jesus to turn and have space and time on the ball.

Here we take a look at the Goals from the game in more detail.
